B.D.A.S.A. is an independent organisation, for Belly Dance Teachers, which is democratically run and governed by a membership core.
As we are an association "not-for-gain", members who form this core donate their time voluntarily and are guided by BDASA's Constitution and Code of Ethics which are available for your perusal on this website.

Our association is also acknowledged and supported by the South African Dance Teachers Association (SADTA). We offer an optional grading syllabus for interested members and the opportunity of networking for ALL members. Although the term 'Middle Eastern' or "Danse Orientale' is prefered when discribing the art form, 'Belly Dance' is the term most commonly recognized by the media and South African public and it was for this reason that the Association decided to stay with the name. Furthermore, the Association is not in a position to incorporate all the various forms of Indian dance that fall under the 'middle eastern' genre.
