Description:
The Nguni Stud Cattle herd is managed by Rob Fraser, which he took over from his mother Pauline. Pauline’s first introduction to Nguni cattle was in May 1994 at Natal Parks Board sale. Once bitten by Nguni “bug”, her first acquisition was 10 Makhathini bred cows in calf to a Barlow bull her after she purchased new Nguni’s at various stud sales. With a preference to registered stock. One of the original Makhathini/Barlow cows has an exceptional calving record of 14 calves in just over 11 years. She calved approx every 11 months and also had 2sets of (Heifer) twins. She is now retired to the “geriatric herd” to a more relaxed life this is a small group of all the old girls bought so long ago .However these old girls still produce calves on a regular basis.See Africa a 1987 cow has recently calved at 23 years. The main herds are run on sourveld grazing with only a winter or summer lick.Because of the extreme weather conditions, from frost and snow in winter to warm summers, in the Imbila Nguni cattle can adapt survive under any conditions. The herd was registered 19/1/2007The are some registered bulls and in calf heifers for sale.
