Ashburton Pony Club - EducationDescription:

Pony Club is a movement which had its origins in England in the late 1920's and since then has grown to become the largest world riding body and one of the worlds biggest youth movements.

While Pony Clubs are primary places where youngsters under the age of 21 years who are interested in ponies/horses learn to ride and care for their animals, the movement teaches far more than the basic skills.

Discipline, Leadership, Sportsmanship and Character are all developed through the principals on which Pony Club is built.

Ashburton Branch of SA Pony Club is based in Ashburton, Pietermaritzburg. Our Club has only been going since June 2010. We have a growing membership of about 15 members and we hold rallies on the second Sunday of every month.

Working rallies, either mounted or unmounted, are held once a month. Teaching and training is given in various disciplines like dressage or show jumping, on horse & pony care or members participate in fun activities, games or outings.

Rallies are open to all members of the branch, visitors and guests from other branches. We encourage parents to get involved, join in the fun and learn along with the children.
